SunCafe is dedicated to serving healthy, organic, exceptional tasting meals full of vibrant flavors. We hope to change the way you think about food in general. Our restaurant doesn't fry it, kill it, or overcook it, we just give you exceptional tasting food that's healthy for you!

SunCafe makes most everything from scratch, including all it's "meats"/burgers, sauces, mayo, and 5 kinds of seed/nut cheeses. All our desserts are gluten-free too.

* 1 hour meter parking on street in front of cafe
* At night, 8 spots in the alley behind restaurant, 2 spots in the daytime
* Non-metered parking on Regel Street, our nearest cross street
* 2 hour street parking across the street is usually available
* We offer curbside service on "To Go" (Best spot is behind in the alley)

Ron Russell
Ron Russell, owner and a chef of SunCafe, began cheffing, during college, leading to him becoming a vegetarian. It's been 35 years since he's eaten any meat. Over those years, he's continually developed healthier versions of traditional foods and unique dishes of his own inspiration. 12 years ago Ron became interested in raw foods after hearing a lecture by David Wolfe. Since then, he's developed scores of raw food recipes.

Ron also enjoys other creative endeavors as an artist, composer and author. His WWII mafia novel, "Don Carina" is already receiving critical acclaim and will be published in the fall of 2012, advanced copies are available on Amazon. There is even talk of a mini-series.

Roi Elam
Roi began his culinary career at the age of 19 as a short order cook in St Louis, MO. After 9 years of this style of work Roi turned vegan. In July of 2006 he moved to San Diego, CA in search of a new life and got a job at the vegan establishment, Kung Food. It is here that Roi discovered his passion for vegan cooking, local ingredients, and the slow food/organic movement. He also worked at the renowned café, Stephanie’s Bakery.

In addition to cooking, Roi plays guitar in a band named The Material. Since 2007 they have crisscrossed the country countless times and have played everywhere from basements, to colleges, to live on MTV and everywhere in between.

In April of 2011 his mother, Donna Elam, lost a three-year battle with breast cancer which led Roi to learn about the impact diet has on overall health and well-being. He began volunteering and blogging for Keep A Breast’s Non Toxic Revolution and he gained a new drive to educate people about the everyday toxins that are consumed in the average American Diet.
